To ensure a successful year, new teachers should:
1. Have a plan in place for routines.
2. Know your expectations for your students, and do not lower them. Challenge your students to exceed their own expectations.
3. Plan lessons in advance and always have multiple backup plans.
4. Be flexible! Don't expect any plans to be perfect.
5. Greet each child with a smile and start every day fresh. Don't allow feelings from yesterday to determine how you treat a child or situation today.
6. Be happy and enjoy the opportunity to teach.
